About Me
Hi! My name is Selena and I am a Professional Pet Groomer, a Grooming Instructor, a Certified Obedience Instructor and a Certified Master Dog Trainer. I have experience working with all kinds of animals; from birds, reptiles, rodents and other exotics, to cats, dogs horses, livestock and more. I spent close to a decade working in the veterinary industry before eventually deciding to focus more specifically on my real passion, which is dogs. I have opened three successful pet care businesses to date, and currently own a dog grooming/daycare/training facility located just outside of Victoria.
I am a third generation dog person; my mom has been involved with various herding breeds (Shelties, Border Collies and Belgian Shepherds) since I was a toddler and has produced many top winning dogs. Her father before her was involved with German Shepherds, and owned many from Charles Eisenmann's lines, the dog's featured in "The Littlest Hobo."
I was involved with the Doberman Pinscher breed from a very young age, for close to 15 years. I imported my first bitch from a kennel in Argentina when I was just 17 years old. Gradually, I became frustrated with the health issues that plague the breed and in the early 2000's I started to research the Beauceron breed instead. I got my first Beauceron in 2006 and it's been a love affair ever since.
In 2008 I purchased my foundation bitch from John Williams at Esprit Resolu, in South Carolina. Brie completed the Obedience Instructor and Master Trainer Certifications with me in the summer of 2009 at Canada West Canine Centre. We dabbled in everything from explosives and narcotics detection, to guide dog work, protection work, agility, tracking and more. Brielle is everything I could have asked for. She is line bred on many dogs I admire, she exemplifies breed type, and she remains healthy and active at nearly 12 years old.
As the breed gets closer to full recognition by the Canadian Kennel Club, I am excited to get some of my young dogs into the ring and help represent the breed in western Canada. I am always happy to discuss my dogs and the breed in general, so please feel free to reach out for more information!
